Has anyone gotten universal control to work on a Mac Pro 6,1? I've tried open core legacy patcher to enable the option, however, the system is really unstable and keeps trying to reboot itself. If open core is the only way, does anyone have a stripped down config with the bare minimum to get it stable?

I suggest to network a 2018 or newer Mac mini to the 6,1 via Thunderbolt and use that for Universal Control and TB3 ports.
Thank you for the suggestion, I basically just need it for 5,1 to 6,1 connection. I have Logitech Flow at the moment, but there is a lag when the keyboard and mouse when it switches.

I’m looking for solution as well. Has anyone found any working solution?
I haven’t yet, only way I know is through open core, I haven’t played around with it enough to test through all the settings. my 6,1 reboots constantly with it installed and My Lg 5k monitor has issues where the Screen is blank.

I am having this issue too.

Mac Pro 6.1 late 2013
2.7 GHz 12 core Xeon E5
128 GB 1066 DDR3
AMD Fire Pro D300

Open Core 4.5 does enable universal control, but the system reboots after 60 seconds wether I login or not. It seems to cause a kernel panic and will reboot endlessly if allowed to do so. I have tried just about every variation configuring open core but no luck.

Crash log:

You need to open up the EFI and edit the config file, inside the file change "DummyPowerManagement" from false to true

Thank you for your reply. I opened the EFI configuration file, "VolumeConfiguration.plist", and there was no entry for "DummyPowerManagement". I added it to the file. Monterey booted up okay but after the usual 60 seconds it crashed again with the same error message.
Any other ideas?

Thanks

The file should be config.plist. It’s somewhere in the EFI folder.

If you installed opencore on a USB drive you need to edit the file in the USB’s EFI folder

It took me a bit of work to actually find the file you specified, but I was able to edit it. Now everything is 100% working!
Thank you for your help and patience!

Apparently this patch makes your CPU running at highest turbo boost, my is E5-2696V2 with DummyPowerManagement set to true, my Mac Pro is running at 3.1 GHz even if the system doesn't need it

Which I hate as my fan will be running 100% speed very easily, I know MacPro6,1's thermal is sh*t but I don't want my CPU running at the maximum turbo boost and 100% fan all the time.
I might just wait for OpenCore to officially support MacPro6,1. Right now if you build OpenCore on the machine it installs some kexts which the MacPro6,1 doesn't need.
