Hi
My iPad Air 2 is still running iOS 9.
My mid-2012 MacBook Pro is (unfortunately) stuck running Mavericks.

I periodically back up my iPad to my MacBook Pro, mainly to keep a secondary "hard copy" backup of my photos and videos. Copies of said photos and vids also get stored in iCloud Photos (or whatever it's called now), however I have the setting turned on to store the ORIGINALS to my iPad (and also to iPhone, running iOS 10 - another confusion altogether).

My quandary:
Am I going to have interoperability issues with transferring my media and doing backups to my MacBook Pro if I update the iPad to iOS 11? I know the file architecture has changed a lot so I am worried that iOS 11 will NOT play nice with such an outdated OS as Mavericks. Is this so? Or will I be forced into updating my Mac to Sierra (which I really don't want to do and can no longer seem to find Yosemite/el cap).
What should I do or not do?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
