I recently purchased a brand new iPhone 7 128 GB (PRODUCT) RED via eBay. It shipped from within the US and was packaged as any new iPhone box would be, with the outer plastic wrapping intact.
However, based on this information at EveryMac via I was expecting the part number to be MPRH2LL/A. The one I have has part number MPRL2LL/A but with Model A1778.
EveryMac:
"The (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition iPhone 7, introduced March 21, 2017, with 128 GB and 256 GB of storage are MPRH2LL/A and MPRJ2LL/A, respectively, unlocked and SIM free. "
A Google search of this part number only yielded 3 results, 2 of them Russian websites.
I checked my serial at https://checkcoverage.apple.com/us/en and it says my iPhone has not yet been activated. I also check my IMEI at https://stolenphonechecker.org/spc/imeilookup and it has not been reported as stolen.
Can anyone elaborate on Apple's part numbering methodology and how I might learn about the origins of my iPhone? How can I check if the the radios in this iPhone match up with Apple's specifications page?
Thanks!
