Resolved update OS imac how

My friend has an iMac running Tiger intel. Of course, they are way behind with their OS upgrades. What would they have to do to update their Mac? Can they upgrade the iMac? Sorry, I don’t have any other information. They can’t afford a new computer.

If it's PowerPC they can only update to Leopard. If it's Intel they can update further. Do you know which it is?

Free snow leopard?

Yes, it is intel. I also have seen a many snow leopard for free down load, and snow leopard for $19. on http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard

After you purchase Snow Leopard off the app store, and install it, then the three updates that have come since then will display in the app store that you can then download and install.
