Updating on iMac 21.5 2012

I've got an iMac i5 21.5 inch Late 2012 and I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.4.
Should I have to update to OS X Sierra? I use Logic X and other heavy programs. Could the update change the performace of my Mac? Thanks!

I felt I had better performance with Sierra however wait to get a consensus before just taking my word for it.
