Upgrade from ios 6 to ios 7

I have ios 6, jailbroken. I want to upgrade to 7.1.2. I downloaded the ipsw file, but when I tried to restore with that using itunes, I got a message saying the device isn't eligible for the requested build. Is there a way around this? Thanks.

You can only upgrade to the currently signed version of iOS. In this case, iOS 8.1.
