I have just reactivated iMac 27-inch Mid-2011. I have OS X 10.9.5 and would like to upgrade to 10.11. How would I go about this? If OS X 10.11 is not possible, what is the highest OS I could upgrade to.

Thanks,

You might not be able to download El Cap from the Mac App store now if you didn't do it at the time of release. I could be wrong though. FWIW, 2011 iMacs support up to High Sierra but are not supported by Mojave.

The link @Argyboy posted (post #3) is still there and works fine i.e. clicking "El Capitan" the installer download starts immediately.
Tested with Safari on a El Capitan compatible Mac .

If you provide all relevant information (Mac model and year, OS installed etc) and elaborate your issue, I'm sure you'll get some help from others.

Download the dosdude1 high Sierra patcher from the dosdude1.com site — then use the open to download the installer from apple.

copy the app to your applications folder, run it from there.

No need for 10.11, 10.13 will run natively.

Or you can make a Mojave patcher USB from that site, but still would go to 10.13 first xD
