I have an imac a1200 6,1 with 2.16gz, 4gb ram and gt6400 videocard. Any options to run an unsupported osx? I have tried to run 10.7.5 but get the unsupported message. Would rather go 10.8 or higher if possible. Any help appreciated.

You'll first need a copy of the Mountain Lion installer app downloaded using a newer supported Mac (if you don't have a supported Mac, there are other places to get it). Just running the installer app won't work, you'll need to download MLPostFactor (direct link) and use that to create an installer partition or USB drive to update your main one. More info can be found in this thread.

I've been running 10.8.5 on my SSD-upgraded 2.33 GHz/7600 GT iMac 6,1 and it works great.
