iPhone 6(S)/Plus Upgrading and coverage / reception

If I were to upgrade my phone from an iPhone 6s, would I necessarily see any improvement in reception?

Frequently, I have poor coverage, but is this determined by the location alone, or the phone (model) as well?

I’m sure it could be measured, but has improvement ever been claimed with each successive iPhone?

Carrier and modem (iPhone) are strong factors. The iPhone 11 series has better wifi6 and other features like improved Face ID, more memory, better support for iOS 13.
