I put together a video detailing the benchmarks and usability of my upgraded Mac Pro 5,1 for video editing:

Bit overkill imho.

I only do 1080 but I have a 5.1 hex core, Nvme boot drive, and nvme scratch disk, w a 7970 and a few HDDs for storage. Works aces.

If you’re doing a ton of filters or effects maybe more cpu would help but I have no issue w mine as is.
