Upgrading Tiger to Leopard?

Hi All,

When upgrading an existing install of Tiger to Leopard will all documents, software, and configuration be kept or does it wipe everything?

If you do the "Archive and Install" option, then Leopard will install in the place of the existing OS, leaving all your data intact.
The installer will create a folder called "Previous System" (or something like that), which will contain some parts of your old OS. If anything hasn't been successfully transferred, you can copy across things from the Library folder inside the Previous System. You may need to re-install printers and any software that installs files all over the place.

However, you do have a backup, don't you, just in case something goes wrong....?

If you just put the leopard disk in your Mac, then go through the install as an upgrade, all of your data will still be intact. Although an Archive and install saves the system, a simple upgrade will save a lot of disk space and you won't have to have your old system on your computer.

Taking a stab at the answer to your next question:
If the disc is gray, it' not going to work in your Mac. You need the black one with the Big Cat on it.

If that's what you have, never mind...

Actually I dont have a black one OR a grey one! I am using a blue one....

Blue one? Leopard is a black disk with an X on it, or a grey disk.
