iPad USB 3 camera connect adapter

I used the original Apple USB to lightning adapter to send video from a Sony action cam to my iPad Air 2,works perfect every time,and the same adapter is also used for photographs. Buying some weird third party thing just to save a few dollars might not always be a good idea.
