Hey all,

Just got my iPad Pro 12.9" and loving it so far. One thing that's changed however is the removal of the headphone jack... so is there a USB-C Adapter that will let me charge the iPad and listen to music at the same time?

Apple has this: https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/produ...r?fnode=85&fs=f=ipadpro_12_9_3&fh=459d%2B4a97 but that will only let me listen to music and not charge at the same time.

Amazon have these:
1) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07H4DF1LZ/
2) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07HVVQCRT/
The first one won't work but the second one does say iPad Pro so maybe its worth trying for that price?

Anyone else know of any other ways to charge through the USB-C and listen at the same time? I wish apple made an Adapter for this in mind.

Thanks.

PS. I watch Netflix and listen to Podcasts through my iPad when I go to sleep at night at prefer using headphones, which is why I'm searching for a way to do this.

Ordered this and it didn’t work... so scrap that off the list. 3.5mm jack worked until plugging into power. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FZYP9FC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will try your suggestion and report back.

I DJ with my iPad so need a way to power and get 3.5mm line out.
If you mange to find something that works please do reply and let me know. I'll test some options too and leave a reply here if I figure out anything too.

I've heard they do work with the their built in listen and charge adapter but I'd prefer a separate adapter so I can use the headphones I like but I may resort to these if I don't find an adapter that works. Thanks for the suggestion.

This was my first thought regarding the loss of the headphone jack on the new pros. Besides using a controller or audio interface how do you get sound out and power the thing at the same time?! All the dj apps suck battery, so not having power is just not possible. The ability to dj on the fly with nothing more than an iPad is now pretty much dead. Lightning cables are everywhere as are 3.5mm connections so you could easily do this in the past, which was seriously impressive imo. Now it looks like you’ll need to carry a dongle just in case the situation arises...

No luck on number 2. Didn’t do anything. Didn’t even pass through power haha

Just got my 12.9 and started my dongle collection also.

USB c to 3.5mm and a USB c to USB a.

I guess the c to lightning will be next to charge my phone?

While a month out, this is being made for the Pros, offers PD charging, headphone jack, etc. : https://satechi.net/products/aluminum-type-c-mobile-pro-hub

I’d imagine many products will be coming out, including spitters.

Oef, if this would have had a build in SD card reader it would have been a must buy for me. Maybe they will release such all-in-one version later. :)

Will the HDMI port also support 4k HDR out as well as charging at the same time?

In the end, I picked up a Hyper Drive Ultimate 11-1 and it works great. Totally overboard in price (£130) but has all the ports I reckon I'd ever need and can be used with a Mac as well as my iPad. If a cheaper alternative is found to work in the next few weeks, I'll most likely return this and go for the cheaper alternative but it works, so there’s that.

What us a to c cord works for charging? I’m looking for my car without buying new charger.

I am using this one...

AmazonBasics USB Type-C to USB-A 2.0 Male Cable - 6 Feet (1.8 Meters) - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GGKYN0A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_zJY6BbP90PFR6

But keep in mind that a USB-A charger will charge the new iPad very slowly at best or maybe not even at all. The best you can get from USB-A is 2.4A or 12W while the USB-C charger that comes with the ipp provides 18W.

I was able to use the cable above with my anker car charger that I know can provide 2.4A and it did add about 10% to my 12.9 inch iPad over an hour while the iPad was not in use.

But if you are using your iPad and/or if your car charger doesn’t provide the full 2.4A then you are likely to be unhappy with the charging speed. Many car chargers or USB ports built into cars only provide .5 or 1A of power. Even with the right cable that’s just not enough power to charge a new iPad.

And hopefully no Wifi interference as others have reported with the Apple USB-C to Audio adaptor.
