the HDMI and the USB function just fine, but the USB-C has not ever functioned for me and now it's annoying me haha (i bought the cable 10 months ago)

is this cable defective? or is there a design function that doesn't allow all these ports to be functional simultaneously?

and yes i mean the first party solution.

Note the last four words of the description. It’s a power input only:

‘The USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter lets you connect your MacBook with USB-C port or MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports to an HDMI display, while also connecting a standard USB device and a USB-C charging cable.’
