It is such an incredible insult to the Mac clientele, that there is an Apple accessory made for Apple computers and nobody tells you it does not work if you run El Cap. I have been reading for hours all over all blogs to find a solution/hack - and until now it seems there is none. Apple: This is real crap.

Whoever comes up with a way, kindly let me know. hendrikehlers@mac.com

What model Mac are you trying to use with the Apple external Superdrive?

I have El Capitan and the Apple external Superdrive and it works fine on my 2 MBPs and mini that did not come with built in Superdrives. The Apple external Superdrive will NOT work with my 2011 MBP that did come with a internal Superdrive. That is according to Apple specs for the drive;

This is an excerpt from the Apple Superdrive web page:
Compatible with the following computers:
MacBook Pro with Retina display
MacBook Air
iMac (late 2012) and later
Mac mini (late 2009) and later
Mac Pro (late 2013)

MacPro 2008. But funny enough, it works on my wife's 2011 iMac...
