I know people who have added their own mobile # as a trusted number to their Apple Account. This seems redundant to me since your mobile device is already a trusted device. And if for example you are trying to log-in via web browser and don't have access to your device for 2FA then you wouldn't have access to the mobile# either? What is the best practice here? Should additional trusted # be reserved for your family/Landline/VOIP services such as Google Voice etc. but *NOT* your own mobile #?

I do use my own mobile as trusted. It's handy if I ever have to re-install iOS and log directly onto that phone before it's Trusted - then the text comes in, is seen in the background by iOS without my involvement, and the login continues normally.

That said - it's not my ONLY trusted number. You can set as many as you'd like. My wife's number, and my mom's number are both trusted too.
