IMO, take a pass. That machine is almost 10 years old, and severely under spec'ed by today's standards. The cost of upgrading the components (RAM, SSD) to make it a workable computer are prohibitive, again, IMO. It will run El Capitan, but not Sierra... and the screen alone would be reason for me to pass on it.

absolute no go. You can pick up an older Macbook Air (I have seen 2010/2011) go for that price and that would be a lot better.

I agree. Free would be OK as you're going to have to spend around $200 for the upgrade parts you'd need. I got the same model for free, did the upgrades and I'm happy with it but it struggles to play full screen video, for example.

Most I'd pay for that would be like $150 honestly. You can find a decent old MBA for $200, or even better, a 2010 white MacBook which has better graphics hardware and can run Sierra.
