I have a Windows XP machine which does not have a DVD drive, and a Mac laptop running Tiger which does - and some ethernet cable!

Is it possible to network the two computers together and use the Mac's DVD drive to access and run the DVD on the Windows computer? If so, how would I go about doing this? I have no experience of file sharing over Windows.

It's not an XP OS installer disc, just 3rd party software installer.

This scenario can work backwards, so I assume you should be able to get it to work. If you share the dvd-drive on the network (this is the part I don't know how to do on the mac), you then map the network drive in XP and install away. That gives it a drive letter that the installer will be happier with.
