VGA Adaptor - can I run games on a monitor?

Hi - can any one confirm just how good/bad the iPad's VGA adaptor is? Do I get a complete video output from the iPad at all times, so can I see the OS/Games/Apps on the monitor?

Or is it similar to the iPhone's component cable whereby only limited stuff actually gets output?

Watch YouTube videos or other videos through the 'Videos' app
View videos through Safari

Note that HD playback at 720p requires an HDCP digital connection. If you attempt to play this content using the iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter, an alert will appear to let you know an HDCP-compatible device is required. To view iTunes Store content, sync the SD version of the video or use the Apple Component AV cable to play the HD version at 480p.

No, you read that wrong. It will warn you, and not play the content.
