Video Camera and Imac

Guys

I bought the HDMI converter to VGA. I want to connect my wireless X10 camera , but how do I choose to see the camera feed on the computer... someho when I plug in the converter the resolutions changes into 720x 480... nor I don't see any option where to access the feed ... any help?
