I just saw that truphone was available in the app store. I haven't tried it yet because I haven't updated to 2.0. But this looks like we have VoIP for the iPhone on Wifi. Good stuff.

yeah, but it seems to me it works much like Skype which I use all the time. If this works that way, I'll be really happy.:)

Wash DC suburbs
From their site:

"Calls to other Truphone users are always free."

Paying $0.06 per minute to a landline if I am on vacation is pretty nice.

I used Truphone for a year in my Nokia E65 through their free launch offer. Here's my take on it:

- exceptional voice quality compared to some other SIP services
- top notch customer service
- great, easy to use integration with Nokia devices

So why have I gone back to Skype on my Mac? Simple... their rates are some of the highest around! Just wasn't worth it. You can read about it in various threads here http://www.mobilevoipforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=49

Keep your eyes open for apps from Skype & iCall. But if you want to try Truphone, I really cannot complain at all about their service.

I'm waiting for iCall for the iPhone. I thought it would be in the app store straight off but seems not!

Their app has no call charges or call rates, true free calls over wifi!
