It seems like I’ve tried everything setting-wise in both my S6 Apple Watch and phone watch app to get workout milestones (e.g., “1 mile…”), but to no avail. Texts and other notifications are announced through the AirPods Pro, but not workout milestones. Any ideas? Thanks.

From my experience, I have only received the milestone call-outs from the watch if I am playing audio on the watch itself (e.g. going running without my phone). If I'm using Overcast on my phone to play a podcast instead while cycling, I don't get the call-outs. Seems like an oversight since, as you have found as well, text messages still get read to you.
