Hello,
I am the developer of a free app that allows you to use your iPhone camera as a webcam for your Mac, similar to Continuity Camera, but with other features, such as 4K, manual Focus/Exposure control, lens selection, and ability to use older iPhones.
See https://webcamplus.app for more info.
Back in 2020 I ran beta testing here for Webcam Plus 1.0 (old thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-as-a-webcam-for-mac-looking-for-beta-testers.2278028) with great success.
Now, I'm hoping to find a few people who are willing to test out v2.0 as well. Basically, the main difference is that I have now migrated the video streaming to Apple's System Extension feature instead of the old DAL plugin, which means that it should now be fully compatible with all Apple's native apps, as well as other third party apps.
The 2.0 Mac app is compatible with the current Webcam Plus iOS client app 1.2.3, available on App Store.
Link to Mac beta 2.0 (macOS 12.3 or later required): https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1q8IT-ZpQziN8pSVEkNijW1pfQ2b4yJ29
Installation:
1. Launch Webcam Plus from /Applications folder
2. Approve Camera System Extension in macOS settings
3. Restart Webcam Plus for extension to take effect
4. Restart whichever app you wish to use the camera with (in order for it to refresh camera devices).
Mainly, what I'm looking for is to find out is:
a) Does it work properly for you, without issues?
b) Which apps were you able to verify compatibility with?
Thanks!
