Eager to try out the new PIP mode I had a look around at what apps might work with it. As far as I know the way to activate it is to pause and unpause playback at which point the PIP icon appears above the playback timebar.

Netflix: no, Prime video: no, BBC iPlayer: no, Apple Trailers: no, Apple-purchased movies: no, Apple Time Flies event (via Apple TV app): yes.

So one app and not even all of Apples apps support this. Am I doing something wrong or has Apple just not enabled it for the main Movie/TV Show apps?

Yep - TvOS apps only. Very surprised the Movies and TV Shows Apps aren't' supported. I could understand 3rd party apps would need updates but surely Apple's own Apps should work out of the gate?
