I have an 8 plus right now so should I get the 11 pro next month and upgrade to the 2021 iPhone or wait for the 12

What's the right choice for you?

I mean you can surrender the right to make your own choice to strangers on the internet, but I think most people have it in them to make their own choices.

Why are you considering an upgrade? What do you want to know that might tip the scale for you?

Well the first question is, how well (or not) is the 8+ working for you at this point? If it's still basically doing Ok, I'd upgrade to the 12 in the fall. If the 8+ is failing or something like that, then that's different.

I will take your guys advice this is a decision that only I can make so I’m gonna get the 11 pro and then when the 2021 phone comes out I’m gonna get it

Instead of doing that, why not just wait for the iPhone 12 to be released and simply get the 12?

Or, you can sell your 8+ for the 2020 SE. If you're happy with the 8 Plus other than the size, the 2020 SE will be a perfect replacement at a very reasonable price.

The iPhone se does not have a good enough camera that will suit my needs

And I would rather wait for the 2021 iPhone instead of getting the 12

I’m gonna do what everyone else said and make my own decision

And I heard that the 12 pro will have 120hz so that means the battery life will be worst then the 11 pro

Because internet rumors must be right? So what if it has 120Hz. What if the 12 can go down to 1 Hz refresh when idle (assuming finally an always on display) or dynamically adjust to conserve battery? Also a 5.8” 11 Pro won’t be much different from the 6.1” 12 Pro. You also have the option of a 5.4” 12 if you want smaller.

I would never buy or not buy based on speculation. If you need a phone now get the 11 Pro. You know what the phone is. If it isn’t urgent wait for the 12 and if those specs don’t suit you, buy the 11 Pro at a discount. Now is a terrible time to buy an 11 Pro at full price, in my opinion, unless you really need or want a new phone.

That’s not necessarily accurate. That probably would dependent on where Apple makes the efficiency needs in terms of controlling the battery life through the A-Series processors improvements, plus every year they seemingly improve the battery life, by last year they actually made it physically thicker.

I’m sure Apple takes into account the Promotion display would have additional battery drainage, but there has to be tweaked improvements to help balance the battery life For such a major new capability.

To me, it doesn’t make much sense to get an 11 model at this point. It’s not about the current cost because you can still get good deals and if you need a phone now, then it’s not often good to try to wait. I usually say just buy it when you need/want it. I’m just a little unclear about your reasoning for doing it now and upgrading next year.
