I have an iPad Pro 11 running iPadOS 13.4 and lately I’ve seen odd indications that it is running low on RAM such as apps getting slow, suddenly asking for passcode instead of using Face ID, notifications disappearing, etc.

Today I was using a few system info apps which show RAM and over 33% was assigned to the category of “other” which never dropped below around 1200 MB. As my iPad has 4 GB of RAM, that’s a large percentage wasted.

I did manage to get it to drop down to between 280 and 320 MB by using the clear RAM steps listed at https://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-clear-your-iphones-ram/, but it seems to be slowly climbing as I use my iPad. Things like using extensioms or browsers in app seem to cause it to go up.

What is “other” RAM and how to I keep it from going up so much?
