2020 iPhone SE is based on the iPhone 8. The 2016 SE was based on the iPhone 5s.
Apple has gotten really bad with the nomenclature with their products and services over the past few years.

I wished Apple would have called the SE from 2020 as SE2.

They are starting to confuse people with their products names. So many people mix up Apple TV, Apple TV+, and Apple's TV app, also.

It is equivalent to crossing paths was an old boyfriend or girlfriend and tenderly embracing. And in that frozen moment in time, everything feels right and the good memories wash over you like a gentle spring rain.

Go to apple.com and order yours today. :)
Lol. ?

In terms of physical design, but in terms of various hardware it's a little different (with various internal components like the CPU being from later models).

I'm going to watch Apple TV+ now on my Apple TV because my Samsung TV can't download Apple TV to watch Apple TV+. I wish Apple made an Apple TV.

What's confusing about that?

My understanding was that the internals of the first iPhone SE were based off the iPhone 6s. You're right in that it takes design cues from the 5s though.

Yup, that sums it up.

I often see threads with people asking how to get their Apple TV working on their new TV because they thought it came with it built in.

In terms of processor, it's the equivalent of next year's Samsung flagship.

Yes i know, was trying to keep the answer as simple as possible in terms of chassis! The updated internals are the main part of what a SE iphone is of course!
