i need one by the end of the week. I'm torn between these for music production:

2015, 15 inch rMBP, quad core i7, 16gb RAM.

2016, 13 INCH rMBP, dual core i5, 8gb RAM.

the 2016 is the cheaper, the only reason I'm considering it, is because I'm thinking it'll have a longer life span than the 2015 model, despite the higher specs. I'll be using apps such as Logic, pro tools, abletom, so it needs to be able to effectively manage those applications without hiccups.

Advice would be amazing, thanks !

Which model meets your needs the most?

I would think the 15" model, with its plethora of ports, ram, and larger screen but that's just me

Will the life of it last as long as the 2016 model? That's the big thing, don't wanna invest to be ignored later on.

It depends what you need, don't discount the better screen, faster SSD and better speakers on the 2016 model either. I think the 2015 15" rMBP is great value now so go for that if you don't care about the 2016's extra features.

Hi,

I would go with the 15". I can't tell about the life, but 8gb RAM seems too little.

Being into music production myself, I see a lot of high-end 2015 around and they work just fine.

You've been starting a thread on this every week.

Get the 15" 2015 rMBP. They're still massively powerful and capable machines. I know people who still mix & master music on 15" 2012 cMBPs. The CPUs are great on the 2015s and you have plenty of legacy ports. 16GB RAM standard and massively fast SSDs (up to 2GB/s).

They'll be fine for longevity.
