What means Early, Mid, latest

Hey guys. I know that this answer has been answer before. But the mid version of a MacBook is an a revision for the early version? Or is only a way to identify the fabrication date. So for today is better wait for the MacBook pro mid 2020?

It identifies during which part of the year the model was released. "Early" would be late Winter into Spring, "Mid" would be late Spring into/through Summer, "Late" would be Fall and early Winter.

You mean that you will no see any MacBook pro mid 2020 because the launch date was in the first period of the year?

The 13" will be "Early 2020" and there's likely no refresh the rest of the year so there would be no "Mid" or "Late". If a 16" refresh were to come in the next 6 weeks or so it would probably be a "Mid 2020" but after that would be a "Late 2020" which is what we're likely to see.

It's just a 2020 MBP. I think Apple dropped the whole early/mid/late thing. If you'll notice on everymac.com. They seemed to mostly phase it out in 2018 and it doesn't appear in 2019. Although I don't have a 2019/2020 Mac to confirm this.

Really, the distinction only makes sense when a model has two releases in one year. As I recall they didn't use years at all to distinguish models. I forget which macOS version finally started using them in About This Mac. Before that it was just a common parlance people used. As the whole Mac 1,1/2,1/3,2 system never caught on. While people still needed to distinguish one revision from another in discussions and sales.

I suppose it's better than a model name with a bunch of meaningless numbers. As it lets you know what year it came out. Like what's newer, a Dell Latitude 5410 or Dell Latitude 5480?
