I just got my new 2019 iMac and ordered this Crucial memory:

Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300) CL19 DR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin for Mac - CT2K16G4S266M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TKZKPJV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_S6F-DbSW5EFTF

I tried it every which way and my computer won’t boot up with it...I just get a black screen. It’s supposed to work according to Crucial. Any ideas?

I have the same sticks and have had no issues with them in my 2019 iMac. Are you sure you're snapping them in all the way?

edit: Oops, just realized that post was from last year.

Has anyone tried 4x32gb Crucial RAM sticks on the 2019 iMac? The technical specifications of those sticks look identical to those offered by OWC (for a total of 128gb). However, the Crucial website doesn't specify that they support the 2019 iMac.

This is the link to the RAM sticks:

Any ideas? I cannot seem to find OWC products in the country where I live.

The part number "CT2K16G4S266M" only comes in 16gb unfortunately. Anybody tried the "CT2K32G4SFD8266" sticks, for 128gb?

Crucial doesn't propose this module for iMac because Apple says max 64 GB. But CT2K32G4SFD8266 should work : same timing, same speed, same voltage. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

That's a whole lot of memory for an iMac with 8 cores.

I totally agree with you, I just need confirmation from somebody who has already tried it.

The reason I need a lot of RAM is that I use parallels to run windows 10 with very heavy software (Revit, AutoCAD, 3Ds Max) and at the same time I use photoshop, illustrator, safari, and a whole bunch of other software on the Mac side. When parallels is running (which is most of the time), I’m constantly using swap memory as the RAM gets used up pretty quickly (I have 32gb installed).

In any case, my plan was to install two 32gb sticks for now, so that I have two free slots if I need to double the RAM later.

Hi, I have a similar situation. I'm waiting for my Imac on Core i9, I specially bought it with 8 GB. I wanted to buy a Crucial 4x32 but for now decided to stay at 2x32!
I read this forum and now I'm in a stupor about what to have CT2K16G4SFD8266 or CT2K16G4S266M, provided a of 32 GB! And I see that some people have different opinions! And the best is how it will work for 128 GB!??? The feeling that no one has ever tried it, except for rumors and videos на ютубе желающих набрать лайки, I have not seen live examples, during at least half a year of stable work! Personally, I'll probably risk buying 2 32GB Crucial CT32G4SFD8266! What did you decide in the end?

I haven’t decided yet .. I’m still hoping that somebody who has already tried it will give us the definitive answer! Otherwise, I’ll probably pay the extra delivery fees and longer shipping time to get OWC delivered to me.

Guys, who finally expanded the memory to 128 GB? What models did you buy other than OWC ?

I found an alternative: Samsung [M471A4G43MB1-CTD] 32 GB Frequency 2666 MHz Bandwidth PC21300 CL 19, 1.2 V, YEAR 2019 !!! someone wrote what to install and work. For the price it is much cheaper than OWS and it is in my city, most likely I will buy 2 for 32!

Hi,

does anyone have experience if KINGSTON 32GB 2666MHZ DDR4 CL15 SODIMM (KIT OF 2) HYPERX IMPACT works with the 2020 iMac 27"?

All the other kits seem to have CL19 and this one has CL15

It seems to work according to a user on this thread but you don't need to pay extra for HyperX branded. It will probably fall back to CL19 latency, so you are mostly paying for nothing.

Buy something present in the grid of the first post and you'll be fine. Gives Crucial your priority. You are always better to buy something explicitly tester for the Apple computer you are looking for.

Thx for the tips. I found out that with a little bit extra, instead of buying 2 x 32gb HyperX kits as I intended, I can get OWC 64gb kit (2 x 32gb) which is specific for my iMac. If they work as advertised, I have option to upgrade all the way to 128gb if I want.
