Hi guys,

I received some 'Platinum' external HDD which costs abou £100 on amazon and I received it with some format and it showed 1TB in Capacy and that 1TB is free. Now that I wasn't able to do things with it like transfer 30GB folder I had to reformat it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), and now from 1TB I have just 900GB left (±30GB folder included).

Is there any way to do not loose that much space?

Can this shed some light onto the matter? Hard Drive Size Discrepancy

In other words, it is not a problem, just a matter of how bytes are reported. 932 GiB (GibiBytes) are 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, but nowadays (from Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard onwards) 1,000,000,000,000 bytes gets reported as 1 TB (TeraByte).
