I'm sure that after iOS 8 rolls out, there will be a whole plethora of thermostat-controlling apps, alarm-system-controlling apps, apps that allow you to interact with your smoke detector, and apps that do whatever else a user might want to be able to do.

My question is this: What can a developer do to make his/her HomeKit app better than thousands of other HomeKit apps?
