Hello

Given that iTunes is being eliminated, what might happen to iTunes Match. We subscribe to Match and would hate to lose it. Any thoughts?

"iTunes elimination" is click bait. What Apple is doing is separating out the functionality for music, podcasts, videos, and device sync into Apple Music, Podcast, and AppleTV apps with the device sync being in Finder.
Makes sense. The current modal UX between sections is inconsistent.

Interesting that they're keeping the "iTunes Store" nomenclature. Wouldn't be surprised to see it phased out over time.

It's not clickbait, and yes they'll phase it out.
1. The store is hidden. That means that besides people who know about it, new users will only see Apple Music.
2. It's β 1. Apple could well rename it by September.

The fact that the iTunes Store is hidden indicates that they're likely to phase out the store within the next few years. Terrible decision if it happens. Not everyone wants to borrow / stream music.

I don’t think they’ll get rid of the store, they’ll just remove the iTunes branding.

They’ve basically made an iTunes suite. The store is still called the iTunes Store. I really don’t imagine they’ll drop that branding unless they drop the store entirely.

But as this graph shows, the non-streaming population is quickly shrinking, it's just a matter of time when it becomes irrelevant to music publishers.

Even though an iTunes Match subscription only costs a fraction of that of Apple Music, I'm betting/hoping Apple maintains the service even if it closes down the store one day. It's all recurring revenue, for both Apple and the labels.

The iTunes Store is not hidden. It's an item in the sidebar on the left, just like Apple Music.

It's not hidden in a fresh install i made, and I don't even see a menu command in the View menu to hide it.

Here are some screenshots. It's probably a glitch on your computer: it was hidden on other people's computers.
Plus, there is no logical reason for Apple to have a hide option, but leaving it shown by default... Screenshot 2019-06-05 at 11.05.32.JPG Screenshot 2019-06-05 at 11.05.39.JPG

Can you add genres under the library tab? And what does “songs view” look like? Could you post a screenshot?
