A 18W or 20W USB-C charger will do. The maximum someone reported was 9V/1.66A (15W) for the Xs.

Per the Apple citation, looks like the phones are capped at 18W so buying a charger with more wattage won't charge faster.

Been ages since I've seen hard/measured numbers, but back with the original X, yeah, got a fast charge at about 15W up to about 60%. After 60%, charging levels leveled off to about the same rate no matter the charger, with a trickle like charge at > 90%. So, with an 18W charger will get to 50% quicker, but not much quicker when going to 100%.

Since the invention of USB chargers this was never the case. All chargers work for all devices.
The chip inside the battery takes over control.

only if the charger has not enough power the device charges slower. But no risk in damaging
