iPhone WhatsApp notification showing name on lockscreen- What has been changed?!

Hi all,

I havent changed any settings, but since a week Whatsapp notifications are showing the name of the sender.
Before the locked screen was only showing "Message" for incoming messages. After I unlock the screen with Face ID it would show sender and message content.

I have tried all settings... I have asked some friends and they have the same issue.

Do u know why this happend and how to change it?

I think so... But I know why they changed it. On purpose or by mistake..

No idea then. I’ve always had my notifications set to always show so wouldn’t know if something changed.

It has been for me like that in forever with the setting "Notifications>WhatsApp>Show Previews - select When Unlocked". Nothing changed recently.

To not show the name, you need to disable previews in WhatsApp itself: "Whatsapp>Notifications>Show Preview" off.

If I do that any incoming message is shown WITH the name and the content is shown weirdly as "incoming group call".

I dont get it...

No. Actually I have the same problem now. For me it's like this.

Version 1 (when disabling previews in iOS settings)
When locked: Name of the sender, and just "Message" (with no actual content)
When unlocked: Name of the sender and preview of the actual message

Version 2 (when disabling previews in Whatsapp settings)
Name of sender and just "Message" (with no actual content)
In this mode, if I also disable previews in iOS settings I get the "Incoming voice call" thing

So it's a whatsapp bug. I have no idea when this changed.

I have reported the bug to Whatsapp service and they told me they are aware of this issue...
