Hi. Any websites out there that track this? Would be interested to see how the base specs for RAM/memory/chips have changed over time without having to look them all up indvidually. Surely someone is tracking to help predict when the next jumps will be?

Thanks

I think these are roughly correct. Interesting that Apple have flip-flopped between 128GB and 256GB for their base MBPs since 2012. Wonder when we'll see this stablise to 256GB being the firm base spec...

Standard RAM for Base MBP

2009: 2GB
2010-12: 4GB
2012-2020: 8GB

Standard HD for Base MBP

2009: 160GB HDD
2010: 250GB HDD
2011 (early): 320GB HDD
2011-12: 500GB HDD
2012 (retina): 128GB SSD
2013: 256GB SSD
2013 late - 2015: 128GB SSD
2016: 256GB SSD
2017: 128GB SSD
2018: 256GB SSD
2019: 128GB SSD
2020: 256GB SSD

And for my own records, MBA too...

Standard RAM for Base MBA

2008-11: 2GB
2012-16: 4GB
2017-20: 8GB

Standard HD for Base MBA

2008 (early): 80GB HDD
2008 (late) - 2009: 120GB HDD
2009: 120GB HDD
2010-12: 64GB SSD
2013-19: 128GB SSD
2020: 256 GB SSD
