The message is to bulk up your wallet and get the Mac Studio plus 27" Studio Display for nearly twice the cost.
There are some threads with people earnestly believing or hoping there will another 27" iMac, but I think it is mainly wishful thinking.
For a while you were able to get 2020 27" iMacs on the Apple refurb store, but those are pretty much all gone.
Some people have divined that because Apple lists iMac 24", and not just simply iMac, that means that they intend to have an iMac 27". Did I mention wishful thinking?

So Apple has said nothing. I won't be replacing my intel for a 24" to have a 27" fall out of the sky. Talk about stupid marketing.
It's not Apple, but I've heard this Macrumors site is pretty reputable 😎

I think it's telling that they have a black Mac Pro in that screenshot. Black Mac Pro Ultra on the horizon (if you read between the lines).

New 27" iMac = Studio Display and Mac Studio (or another Mac of your choice).
They dropped the iMac 27 when they launched the Mac Studio.
If you want a 2020 iMac 27, they have them at Costco and Best Buy. I use the floor model at Costco as it has internet access. The 24 is next to it along with all of the other current models, except for the Studio.

Apple doesn't announce when they drop old products. They never did. They also don't announce new products unless they are ready to ship, or it'll be released to certifying agencies (i.e. the FCC for the first iPhone).
Apple in March had officially confirmed the 27" as 'end of life'.

Everymac.com also shows it as discontinued as of 3/8/22. I suppose we have enough sources now confirming this. It would be nice if Apple had a list similar to what it provides for vintage and obsolete products (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201624).

Frankly, Apple are not going to make an official announcement confirming it is permanently discontinued. Why would they? There is little benefit to them in doing so. Who knows, they may change their minds. Just like the iPhone Mini - they don't confirm there will never be another Mini phone. If the market changes, there might be.
Of course, one can hang onto hope and believe whatever one wants. But generally it is best to plan around what is most likely, not a remote possibility. However, some people have time to wait a few years and hope - myself included: I have a 2020 iMac which I think is great, and no plans to upgrade soon. (I also have an MBP M1 Pro, so know the other side of the fence, too).

Their way of confirming it is to just stop selling it.
Personally, I'm still waiting for them to resume production of the Power Mac G4 Cube. It's just been put on ice y'all!

Count me among those who mourn the (apparent) demise of the 27"iMac.
Currently working on a 2017 27" w 8GB memory & 2TB storage. I would like a desktop with more built-in storage, at least 4 TB, but I am not willing to pay over $5K for the studio + display. I continue to check the refurbs regularly in hopes that a suitable 27" will turn up.
I'd be willing to consider the 24" if it had an option for more than 2 TB storage. Yes, I know about the cloud but prefer local storage for work.

Did you read the whole article, it's confirmed with a statement from Apple at the end of the article.
At the end of the article it says, "Update: Apple confirmed to Ars that the 27-inch iMac has reached end of life."
I'm going to read between the tea leaves and say that what they mean is that the 27-inch Intel iMac has reached end of life.
