Apologies if this is obvious, but I've searched a lot and can't find a definitive answer.

Does Airplay 2 send all audio to an enabled Airplay 2 speaker, or just audio from certain apps? e.g. is it like Bluetooth that will replace the internal device speaker with the bluetooth speaker, or more like Chromecast that will only work with some music apps? If the latter, is there a list of which apps work with it - e.g. Safari? Facetime? Or is it just the IoS Music App? Thanks for help.

On an IOS device , all audio (except system sounds and clicks) can be send to an airplay 2 enabled speaker, no matter the brand. On TVOS (Apple TV), all audio can only be send to an Apple Homepod.

Third party airplay 2 speakers can only receive the audio of specific apple tv apps.
