I am considering getting an iMac24" to replace my iMac27", which is unfortunately gone obsolete. The iMac24 has only 4 ports, 2 USB-C and 2 Thunderbolt. On my old iMac I have a number of USB3.0 hard drives that need to be connected to my new iMac24 and most of them are directly plugged into the iMac. The only way now is using a hub, but there the swamp starts. First of all I get into a discussion with hub suppliers as to the data rate. Some claim all downstream ports get a portion to the bandwidth if used simultaneously. What I am looking for is maybe a white elephant: ideally I get a hub connecting to Thunderbolt at 40Gbs, serving USB3.0 ports at 5Gbs so I could use multiple USB3.0 drives at full speed simultaneously. Also the drives do not have an external power supply, so the hub ports should deliver sufficient power for the drives to operate
Does such a hub exist ?
