A friend of mine is upgrading from a 2010 MacBook to a new MacBook Air this week. They'll be moving from Snow Leopard with Office 2011. I know Office 2011 is a bit iffy in High Sierra, but it does work in Sierra.

So - does anyone know what version of Mac OS a brand new MacBook Air would have installed on it? I ask because, I myself bought a new Air just over a year ago direct from Apple and it came running El Capitan, months after Sierra had launched.

High Sierra. I bought one for a colleague a few weeks ago.

Don’t be so sure. I just received a 2017 13” MacBook Pro today and it has Sierra on it. Seems to be a crapshoot.

Ahh interesting. I had thought mine might have been an anomaly when I got El Capitan last year. Did you buy direct from Apple too?
