I need to access a very old Lacie external drive (I am sure there is a clone on it for my G4 PowerBook).
I have a load of Lacie drives, but the older ones used a different power supply connector, which I can't find.....?

Does anyone know if the 4 pin Din connectors are all the same rating.
The ones I have found seem to be 12v 5v 2a.
Then some say 12v 5a 60w.

This one says Lacie drive, but then says 'must be specific' model number.

I don't want to chance damaging the Lacie drive, as the HDD in my PB has gone caput.

From memory the single HDD 4 pin power supplies were 2A, whilst the 2 HDD (longer) models were a bit bigger and rated at 3A.
I never had a problem using either PSU on either model just to power up to check the drive directories.
I video edited for 10 years with about 20 LaCie FW drives of all sorts, and used the correct PSU for intensively using the drives.

All my newer drives have 3A on the power brick.
If a 4 pin Din is 2A by default, that is fine.

I assume if the drive DID require 3A, a 2A wouldn't do any harm (I am a bit of a dingbat when it comes to watts/amps/volts etc......?)

It's this bit in the description of the link above that worries me, as this is not my model number:

Your device model must match the entire exact description as described in our ad ( Replacement for Hard Drive HDD LaCie 301301U DD3US )

"Your device model must match..."
I think they put that to stop people with drives that require the newer single pin PSU buying the wrong thing.
If your newer drives are this later type (single pin power connection) then they need 3A (at 12 volt), which is 36 watts.
The 4 pin single drives required 2A at 12 v and 2A at 5v, which is 24+10=34 watts.
So more or less the equivalent power rating.

You would only need a more highly rated PSU if you are using a dual-drive LaCie model, which are in a bigger case.

Very good description thanks....?

My drive is a 160gb Triple Interface D2.
Funny thing is I have two old drives with the 4 pin Din power, but can't find the power bricks for either anywhere.
It's so annoying.....

Will go for the one in the link I think.
