Anyone else having this problem? Troubleshooting ideas appreciated.

I'm having strange key repeats (partial words that I've just typed, repeating in clusters) as I type, strangely beginning at about the same time I updated to Catalina. Sometimes it's one or two prior words, sometimes fragments from prior words just typed, or entire words repeating. Regular typing is currently a lot of backspacing to delete and then re-typing, ugh.

This is pointing to software and not hardware, because it's happening:
As I type on my Macbook....
And also as I type on a bluetooth keyboard...

I've tried:
System Prefs > Keyboard >turning off Key Repeat, and restarting. No change.
System Prefs > Keyboard >Delay until repeat. Tried both ends of the spectrum and restarting. No change.
Deleting and Re-identifying my bluetooth keyboard, and restarting. No change.
System Prefs > Accessibility: (nothing here was on. Keyboard "enable Accessibility keyboard" is off).

Not sure what else to try?
My coworkers who also updated to Catalina are not having this problem.
Any other ideas???
