Same here, but once I saw the Baltic blue leather key ring matched with the air tag I couldn’t help myself, told myself it’ll make a nice key ring. ?♂️? damn you apple lol.
It makes sense since an iPhone is required to use them. They're not really a standalone product, but an iPhone accessory.
Ordered 5 mins after pre order launch, still stuck on processing w/ an estimate of 5th of may. Weird.
I order mine like 2 minutes after it went live and I got the April 30 date, so I say ares could be changed to shipped sometime today, because if some or ares should be here by friday- and since they are coming from china it looks like
ordered mine last friday (engraved) with a may 10th delivery dsdsate but it's preparing to ship. does this mean I'm getting them super early?
It depends if they’re coming from China. If that’s the case then they could take up to a week

My is still in preparing to ship and I just got the plain with no engraving- I have a feeling all of them are going to be shipped from China. so I just waiting for my to changed to to shipped and I get a tracking number
I know it has to be UPS since it is alway what Apple uses when new things come and they have to ship them from China

The tech specs say it needs an iPhone/iPad or touch (I assume for setup), so I don't think you specifically need a phone.
Admittedly the use would potentially be a bit limited unless you are carrying a cellular iPad around with you, so I imagine that almost everyone will actually use them with a phone.
My airtag tracking says to check back another day for a delivery date..my keychains say it arrived at a local ups location snd is still being processed.
