. I have spent the past hour googling around and I can't find any bootleg smart covers anywhere. When the iPad 3 came out I got one for $12 no problem. I don't want a case just the cover. Is there any place that sells just a cover for less then $30-40?

Hopefully they work for you. I know they mention they can be separated, I wonder though since I haven't really seen any postings here with examples of them separated. I know it's only $10-15 to get one and see but I'm trying to reel in my accessory addiction. Don't even want to tell how many cases I had for my iPad 2.
I looked a ton for a off brand that was similar, but they all seem to be junk. eBay can be dangerous because they sell it like its the real deal and its a cheapo knockoff. I am going to order an Invellop from Amazon this week, they seem to have the best reviews, and I buy with confidence since it ships from Amazon.

The Besdata Ultra Thin Cover & Case from Amazon will does come apart. It was the one case I figured I'd try. Came today. The cover and the back case are two separate pieces. Fit and finish isn't same as my Apple one for my iPad2 but for $14 I'm not gonna complain.

Takes about 2 or 3 weeks for delivery but the quality is pretty good. I've ordered quite a few cases from them and always received my orders with no issues.

Looks to be exactly the same as the one on Amazon. Might want to go with Amazon as you know returns are easy, plus with Prime it's free shipping.
