So last year i realized that if i traded in my 12 Pro Max i would get $800 for my trade in.
Regardless of memory you have it doesn't get any higher so it is optimum size.

I am seriously considering upgrading again (last year did 12 to 13, first ever where I upgraded after just one year) for 3 reasons:

1) New features, better video, screen brightness outdoors and the video action are quite interesting.

2) This is the best you will ever get paid for your old phone (in my case 13 pro max) although this year the trade in dropped to $720 from last years $800 for iPhone
12 pro max .I assume that is due to them not increasing the price of the 14 model. If I add $300 I get another year of warranty and I get a new phone with the latest and greatest features. If I wait a year my trade in value will probably drop at least $150-200 (guestimate). Btw I have the unlocked version so I can switch to prepaid if I travel abroad. So you could potentially get more in trade-in value if you sign up for a contract with an operator but I prefer to have optimum flexibility,

3) Battery life, I know they tested the 14 vs 13 and it was just slightly higher but here is my take; the 14 has been tested with iOS 16 while the 13 I bet is using old test data that was done with iOS15. iPhone 14 might be similar or slightly better but I suspect that once iOS16 comes out iPhone 13 will not perform as well and even more importantly battery life wise. The way I see it is iOS16 will demand more from the iPhone and the 14 will be better able to cope with increased demand and hence it can improve slightly or stay on par with 13 when looking at test data. But iPhone 13 I bet is using existing old data from having been tested on iOS15. I bet it will get lower benchmarks performance and battery life once it has been upgraded to iOS16. If not then how come the A16 will provide similar data as iPhone 13 if it is more energy efficient and has 15% higher performance? To me it is because the data for iPhone 13 is based on iOS15 and iPhone14 is based on iOS 16.

These 3 reasons, it is why I am seriously considering upgrading to 14 model.

I am really interested to hear what people think about my reasons, especially number 3 if i am off or not.

Thanks

Hey there - upgrade if it’s a good deal and seems to be! I’ve always been a big believer in taking first good deal and not waiting.
That being said - I don’t think the battery on 14 pro will be significantly better than 13 pro. It last almost all day in my use - heavy!
You may miss that larger screen, longer battery and ease of seeing text. I have 13 pro right now. It’s good but not great IMO. Always trade offs 😄😄😄

I did too but for some reason I couldn’t bring myself to hit compete purchase. Even when I would typically upgrade year to year there was something bothering me about the phone I was upgrading from. Even something as minimal as I didn’t like the color. However there’s nothing about the 13 pro max that is bothering me.

You want the latest new toy, and you’re looking for reasons to justify it.

I don’t say that disparagingly. I suspect that nearly all of us have been there. But just call it what it is, and if you want it, and can afford it, you don’t need to justify it. You can spend your hard earned money however you’d like.

I have gone to complete the purchase on the 14 Pro Max a few times but like others. The only thing that interests me is the dynamic island and I'm sitting here thinking is that worth another 2 years of £50/£60 per month?

I have zero issues with my current iPhone 12 Pro Max apart from the battery life is absolutely terrible.

I’m considering upgrading from the 13 Pro Max to the 14 Pro Max as well.

I figure I work a lot of overtime and don’t spend much on myself throughout the year so why not treat myself?

Having the latest phone tech each year is sort of a hobby of mine, not to mention it’s nice always having an active warranty in case something goes wrong, or the greatest smartphone camera to take the best memories of my loved ones 🙂

I placed a preorder for the 14 Pro Max, but who knows I might just end up changing my mind before I even open the box and sticking with my 13 Pro Max for another year until the 15 series comes with USB-C ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m getting the 14PM as well, but planning to keep my 13PM. The battery is already excellent, so even if it stayed the same that would be fine.

Cameras and new stabilization will be nice upgrades. Satellite function and crash detection will be nice to have just in case.

The Dynamic Island is one of the neatest things I’ve seen on the iPhone in a long time. And iOS 16 looks to be a solid release.

Looking forward to it!

Thanks for the inputs although I still haven’t seen anyone responding to my theory of 14 tested with iOS16 while 13 using test data based on iOS15.
The data for 13 was posted a year ago so had to be using iOS15 while 14 will require iOS16. There, I just answered my own question! 😁

Getting 1000 for my 11 pro max made it almost a no brainer. Will pass my 13 pro max down to the family.

I take it the 1000 fit the 11 pro max is not from Apple?

Definitely trading in my wife’s 12 pro max for 1k, and giving her my 13 pro max so I can get the 14 pro max for $100 plus tax
