Why still no support for using main audio output to stereo home pods

Why still no support for using main audio output to stereo home pods, I know you can do it in Music or iTunes but I want the system to use main output as both home pods in stereo, how hard can it be, I have 2 next to my Mac and wish I could have it used for vlc youtube etc, I expected the new macOS to have it

I suspect it's because the sounds would be out of sync with the system events / video. Using AirPlay, your Mac / iPad / iPhone / iPod delays the video, for instance, just enough for the sound to stay in sync.
