wifi has been great since I got this computer in 2015, but today it is dead. no other problems with this computer that I know of.

I am thinking there must be documentation somewhere the tells how to fix this. So far, everything I have found had not addressed the scenario I am seeing.

My machine is CMP 5,1 from 2012

Put Catalina on using DosDude2's patch installer.

These pictures show what I am encountering with WIFI. I am thinking there must be a way to rebuild wifi on my system For wifi hardware I am running what the computer had when I bought it, which I have always assumed is stock as shipped from APPLE.

No MAC address for wifi, that is different.

Do you have a good way for going after this problem?

FIXED

found the fix. One of the articles I found had a slightly off instruction.

Basically, the fix is to all but four files from /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration, then restart the computer. The first set of instructions I followed did not identify one of the files that has to be deleted.

The files I had to delete are highlighted in blue.

A more accurate statement is delete all the files except those not highlighted. Files with other names can be present in place of the those highlighted. Drop all the files except the ones not hightlighted.
