Hey guys,

I am just wondering whether or not Apple will replace the built-in battery for my 17" MacBook Pro that has Optibay installed inside. I know that voids the warranty and I don't really care (my AppleCare is still valid).

It's just that I'm not sure whether Apple will refuse to replace the worn battery for me or not, for a fee (or treat me the same way as they treat other out-of-warranty machines).

If not, I will have to think about where to obtain the battery and replace it by myself :(

Does any of you have experience in this? Please let me know!

Thanks!

If you're paying to have the battery replaced, your warranty status shouldn't matter. Apple doesn't replace worn out batteries under warranty or AppleCare, only defective ones. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
