My iphone 6 is on 10.3.3, and due to numerous reports of slowdowns, car blue tooth issues, etc I'd rather not update right now. I've been through many of the battery replacement threads and have not seen any reports on whether Apple will refuse the repair if the phone isn't updated, so I'm asking here for any experiences. I realize there are major security reasons to update, but I'm still considering the pros and cons and would rather decide for myself instead of being forced to update to get a new battery.

Yes.

However tell them its critical not to update the phone to be on the safe side.

I have a proprietary app for work that isn't updated very fast and needs to be validated for the version of iOS its running on or else the app wont work. In the past we've had Apple replace batteries and do other repairs without them updating the OS.

Not sure if that was just because of the type of account and/or situation though.
