Will PS3 component cables work with a PS2?

I was wondering if PS3 component cables are backward compatible with a PS2. I want to buy component cables for my PS2 but where I live I can't find any. Instead, all I could find are PS3 accessories including component cables for PS3 . So my question is, do PS3 component cables have the same connector as the PS2 so I can just buy the ones "for PS3" and use it with the PS2?

Yes; both the PS2 and PS3 use the same analog multi-av connector.
